I'm not sure how long I can stay involved right now but I'll try my best. Just so much going on right now.

In frame 1 the paradox they're referring to is the Fermi Paradox.

Rikalla's story is as much about why she can remember this critical information as much as it's about an analogy about "looking for the correct signs".

In the last frame Rikalla suggests that The Kardashev scale is incomplete or flawed and that the only civilizations that survive The Great Filter of AI are ones that take a different path of achieving harmony with their environment rather than trying to harness it.

Much of this story is about the dangers of developing AI with reckless abandon like we are doing right now.
"The danger of AI is much greater than the danger of nuclear warheads, by a lot." ~ Elon Musk

Nice to see ya back!

This is some heavy stuff, and it's not completely 'otherworldly'.

First day back and he makes me ponder things...
I'm getting too old to ponder for too long
My ponderer is the only thing that doesn't hurt
...yet

I just wanted sword fights and kitty titties...
Is that so much to ask ?

Great page, breaks the drought nicely and shows that they not only think, they ponder the deeper depths of the well of souls...

Needs more kittie titties though ;)

Wow, Her younger self looks neat. Perhaps an incentive with that model might be kewl.

Thanks for the update Dizz! Good to hear from you! And yes, the social commentary is welcomeđź‘Ť
I'm certainly a fan of all the "bare necessities" (...or necesse-titties?) your art provides! But the fact that it also comes with a coherent and interesting story is one of the reasons it's my favorite web comic.

OK, a necro post but I just saw a report about "Grace", a nursing robot that is being developed and I immediately thought of the last panel on this page. I think you are completely correct, we are screwed.
Grace is for elderly care, specifically dementia patients and is creepy as fuck.

Story

The story is fascinating - most webcomic authors aren't able to fit that level of thought into a story line. Thanks!
