Recently I was asked about how and what the Minkies eat so I made this fishing boat, and I just like making sail boats.
For those who don't know, this is how we used to catch tuna.

I'm not familiar with commercial fishing but I'm guessing they clean them on deck first before they send them down below.

Dolphins and sharks too. Purse seine netting and long lining kill indiscriminately.

That's a really nice boat and scene. How difficult was it to add the water splashes to the tuna and the bow of the ship?
But this reminds me of the little-talked-about issue of overfishing. And this is particularly relevant to tuna. We see articles like " Overfishing causes Pacific bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96% ".
These days, the vast majority caught are juveniles that haven't reproduced. Part of the blame falls on illegal fishing and the lack of enforcement. (Apparently, there's a huge demand in high-end sushi markets. A single fish can make the catchers rich for life!)
I stopped buying tuna a few years ago. I don't usually eat fish or seafood anymore. On rare occasions I may have some Alaskan salmon. It's domestic and less likely to be contaminated, anyway.

Thanks. I modified the xebec from page 197 to spread it out in the middle for more room to fish. Water splashes are for me, the hardest thing to get right. I used to avoid them but now it's like a challenge.
Purse seine netting has been a disaster to tuna mainly because it captures the entire school and leaves nothing to renew the population.
I quit buying all commercially caught fish about 25 years ago, but I still eat a lot of fish. I catch grouper and snapper offshore, and snook (my favorite) inshore here in Florida.
