And that's the end of that chapter.

"Sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate? I know what that makes!"

I bet she would prefer nitric acid, sulfuric acid and glycerin.

Or a few other easily assembled and much tastier recipes I don't really think should be shared...the kids might be reading ;)

I guess Bidi is going to have to blow something up again to make all of you happy. =)

That wasn't on top of my list, but now that you mention it she has been pretty quiet for that few months.

DizzasterJuice, kudos on the lighting for this page. Granted, you always seem to do lighting very well. And it is less light than what I prefer. But the low lighting here is dim and extremely appropriate for sunset, yet it is enough to discern one person from another.

(I can compare this with the lighting on certain other 3D rendered webcomics where the artist takes the lazy way out...)

Also, I kind of hope that the Kurra do not mistake saltpeter for regular old salt, else the surprise will very much be a letdown. What would these people even mine saltpeter for, aside from preserving meat and other foodstuffs? But then, table salt is also used to preserve meat and other foodstuffs, so...

Thanks!
I am always trying to get better at this, but that makes me want to go back and re-do all the earlier pages. uggh

Salt is good in some cases but then you can't make sausage without potassium nitrate. The word "botulism" in fact derives from the Latin "botulus," meaning sausage. Clostridium botulinum bacteria is seven million times more toxic than cobra venom, and regular salt doesn't kill it.

While this might make Bidi smile I'd think she'd really love lithium-6 deuteride,

As they learned from Crossroads, lithium 7 will work just as well if you don't mind a few extra neutrons going walkabout.

I think that was the Castle series. Castle Bravo to be specific. Crossroads was done with Fatman type fission devices.

You'r right about the name. My memory for names is getting a bit fuzzy that far back but I clearly remember the 'OH SHIT' feeling when some of the technical details were released in the mid 1960's. Seems the engineers hadn't bothered to separate out the 5% Li6 from the 95% Li7 in natural lithium. They just made sure there was enough Li6 to achieve their target yield. To this day, I do not know if anyone back then knew how easy it is to knock the extra neutron out of a Li7 nucleus turning it into Li6. It was dumb luck that they only got 2-3 times their intended yield instead of the 19 times worst case.

and Dizz:
It concerns me far more how quickly this lesson was forgotten.

That's a small boat for a couple stowaways to remain hidden on for long.

Very good question. The distance is about 400 km and if the boat averages 17 knots the trip would take about 13 hours arriving at Pamoa the next morning.
It is rather cramped in there as you will see soon.

I know they are a lot younger than I am, but I couldn't go 13 hours without a pee break or three.

Signos does have to prove he's a god before the Kurra fully accept him as one. Blowing some stuff up might do the trick.

Swords cut both ways and explosives may be used against either side. Someone is going to figure out that Number 2 Powder can rid them of their overlord fairly quickly.
