So it looks like this battle may go either way now.

In the original story, all the trees on the plateau were "snap trees" that evolved to break in the high winds of the Angurad storm. The tree trunk would not completely break off but would fall to touch the ground and sprout new roots, much like the supportive roots of a Banyan tree. Then a new main trunk would grow out of the break and the process would continue again higher up the tree in the next storm. The result was a forest of roots that was extremely hard to navigate.

Looks like the fight may go to whoever is the most mobile...

The Dalai have the advantage in that department but they are still outnumbered 4 to 1.

If all those dots out of formation are bargeist, that's a _lot_ of bargeist.

Each formation of Dalain heavy infantry "Shimoru" is made up of 48 infantry and 2 officers. So what we see here is 750 in the main force and 400 moving south. There are another 350 in support and reserve to the south.
The archers or "Kyudoku" are about 200 in each of two divisions with another 400 in support and reserve. The archers take a lot of suppport troops to run arrows where needed.

Each Mag Leung Phalanx formation or "Cohort" is made up of 144 and their heavy infantry formation is 144 that can break down to 4 sub units.

The Bargeist are about 1000 - 1500. Their numbers are hard to determine because they use no formations. So on the right it will be 600 dalai against 1000+ Bargeist.

As an amateur military historian I really like the detailed plans of the battle.

There's so much going on in this battle that I think I needed to step back and give everyone the big picture before it starts.

I would not have been able to visualize it with the sky dragon's eye view.

Into the Dalai of death strode the 600
Mag Leung to the left of them, Bargeist to the right...
