Surprise extra page this week!
I'm having a writer's block on my other comic "Whiteout" right now and since "The Crease" is already written I thought that banging out a few extra pages might help me work through the block.

Damn, get rid of one scheming witch and replace her with a worse choice. Kingy-Poo gonna face the wrath of Sir Liam one of these days.

I think Liam would let Eloma handle it in her own way -- with her sword.

That's a conflict I'd like to see. Question is: How effective would an experienced Swordswoman be against a talented Battle Witch?

We haven't seen much Khamon action... have we? There was Broqa and the group facing that dragon. But she had everyone flee. And there was Broqa in the Mag Leung throne room. But she never stood a chance against Terranos. None of them did.

It's too bad Yoda isn't around to get that bitch taken care of and King Dumb Ass is too blind to see what's actually going on.

Is King Stollo a patsy - a mere puppet on the throne? Or is he a bastard who is sometimes vulnerable to manipulation?

There is a trope in fiction were a clueless but otherwise harmless leader is manipulated into doing awful things. IMO, King Stollo does not fit that trope.

For the most part, King Stollo comes across as devious. Consider how he sent the Vang Gaer (including Carrencia) to that island to wipe out the "pirates". Despite how they slaughtered a village of innocents, he managed to cover that up nicely. This was long before Khamon Nylah became his advisor. She has only just started that position.

I suppose there's a possibility that the "pirate" massacre was Broqa's scheme since she was his advisor. But even if it wasn't his idea, it still makes him heartless (unless he really did not know). Anyway, Stollo used Broqa as a pawn to assasinate the Mag Leung King. It sounds like he wanted to trade up to Khamon Nylah, so he wanted to get rid of Broqa. (Or was that Nylah's scheme, too?)

Point is, I think being stupid or foolish is an excuse. A defense, even. It makes someone almost pitiable. But Stollo seems devious and ruthless to me. That some are even more devious and can manipulate him does not improve my opinion of him. That said, this glimmer of a moral framework ("it all seems so... heartless") does improve my opinion - ever so slightly. But he's still a bastard. Though, I suppose as heartless as Nylah is, Stollo may seem almost decent by comparison.

For an evil leader to stay in power they always need a credible fall guy to take the blame. (like a Khamon, Vang Gaer, etc.) If they're good at it, they can actually make the fall guy believe that it was their own idea.
This is a king that has been in power for almost 20 years matching wits with "a talented young khamon".

Chubby the King's steak looks a tad under-cooked there, send it back, needs another 20 seconds.
